Group Lessons
Group lessons are an enjoyable alternative to private lessons. While both options will develop musical skills, here are some highlights of group lessons.
Social Benefits: Students will enjoy camaraderie like they would in other activities and this helps with the longevity of piano lessons.
Peer learning: Students learn from another and will learn to guide others to success. They will learn to support and motivate each other. They will also experience a variety of learning styles from their classmates.
Confidence building: Regular performances in front of their classmates will help to develop calmness when performing.
Ensemble skills: Students learn to play together. This develops their listening, rhythm, sight reading and more.
Buddy Lessons
-
These lessons are for 2-4 students, and are a smaller version of a group lesson. They are a great opportunity for young pianists and often more motivating than an individual lesson.
They will be held in my studio
The cost is 30min/$90 or 45min/$110 monthly for each student. Books will be an additional fee
Students will need an instrument to practice on. An 88, weighted key instrument will give them the best enjoyment. If you would like help choosing an instrument, I would be glad to help you. Be wary of buying keyboards and pianos from online sources, such as Facebook Market Place, as these often need expensive repairs to work.
A recital will be held at the end so you can see all your students have accomplished. Date TBD

Students will be using the Keyboard Games book A curriculum by Marilyn Lowe. This method teaches young students about the piano before they can read and gives a great start to a love of music. Students will learn to create with different rhythms, patterns, and tonalities with friends.
Class Objectives:
Develop students’ musical ear through creating their own music with direction
Learn great piano technique without the stress of reading music
Learn to match pitch when singing and be able to sing a resting tone
Develop a rhythmic pulse and be able to distinguish simple and compound rhythms
-
As this is likely the student’s first instrument, parents should use this time to build strong practice habits. Shorter, more consistent practice times yield much better results than cramming. Thus, parents and students should strive to set up a daily practice time of 10-15 minutes to help students build a habit that will serve them for years to come.
